Question by Shastry S.B.V.R: Europe’s famous landscape paintings and equally attractive color photos of nature-which would you prefer?
No doubt some of the paintings like those of John Constable of England appear more attractive than the original scene in real life.But color photographs have their own great qualities. They are actual “photo copies” of the Creator’s work. Nowadays we can get two meter square or three meter square color photo sheets of nature’s beauties available for sale in market.Suppose we have an exhibition of hundred paintings and another exhibition of hundred photographs. Which would you prefer?

I will always prefer the brush work on canvas. Photographs are wonderful, but it is apples and oranges to compare building an image from a blank canvas and mechanically/digitally copying what is in front of you.

You could choose a few species to focus on and outline:
* Their conservation status (e.g. threatened, endangered)

* Where they live (What type of habitat? Where in the world?)

* Why they need protection (e.g. why are they threatened?)

* What is being done to help them (e.g. are there organisations working to protect them? How do they do this?)

Some interesting animals to include:
* Muriqui (Woolly Spider Monkey)
* Three-toed Sloth
* Green Turtle
* Crowned Eagle
* Red-billed Curassow

Anyone know how to get a wildlife mural appraised? Oil on canvas 23 feet long 5 feet wide. He has sculptures in Smithsonian but can’t find info on his paintings. RScott
Photo will have to wait until I have physical custody of it. It’s a gift from a friend and if I don’t like it I’m allowed to donate it through the CrossRoads Arts Center. You’ll be able to bid on eBay. RScott

You might try Sotheby’s (sp?) or any other big Art Sale place. Is there one called Christies? Yeah, try both of those.

I’ve been working on digital art for almost a year now, and I’ve definitely improved since I first started. Lately, I’ve been really happy with my drawings!

Obviously, I’m not trying to produce a super realistic drawing. However, does it look professional/stylized enough that you could see it being an illustration in a book? Or any professional graphic?

Digital art is something created totally within the confines of a computer and special programs like Adobe Illustrator.

Camera art may mean using a camera to shoot images and then using darkroom techniques to produce “art”

Camera “ready” art is what is presented to a printer to make colour separations prior to printing the “art” on an offset printer

Try www.modernpostcard.com they are very good at promotional cards and such. I think they print artist quality off-set lithographs. I have used them for many printing projects. If they don’t there is always a printer near-by with the facilities that you need. Cheapest isn’t always the way to go. Good Luck!

Question by missbeverlyhills: what are some photography ideas for a flip book?
Its an assignment for my digital art class…and I thinking of having my little sister do jump in jack while I snap her photos. Is that a good idea, if not tell me your opinion?

I think that is a good idea, however think outside of the box, for example perhaps get your sister like she is getting up in the morning, throwing the covers off of her, sitting up on the bed rubbing her eyes, yawning and stretching then getting up and walking out of the room

Ahh yes digital art, the twenty-seven year old oxymoron. First and foremost, anything done digitally is math not art, art requires a soul not just a random series of ones and zeros. Second off if you have a program do your art, or enhance your art, then it eliminates the purpose of your art, and if you can’t draw by hand, why try to do it by mouse or tablet, stupid.

Question by Black_Wolf: What photo editing/digital art software would you recommend for an anime artist?
I love drawing anime fanart, but our scanner is broken so I upload it onto deviantART with my cell phone, which makes the picture blurry and changes small (but important) details such as facial expressions. I normally use FotoFlexer since it’s free, but it doesn’t really work very well (for me anyways) and freezes easily. Since Christmas is drawing nearer, I would like some photo editing software and software you can use to digitally color pictures but I have no idea what to pick…
Is there anything that isn’t too expensive but still works well?
